A trio of officers lost their lives and at least 15 people were hurt in an apparently deliberate blast caused by gas at a country home in the northern part of Italy.

The detonation was triggered as officers and emergency crews approached the residence close to the city of Verona to carry out an court-ordered eviction for two brothers and a sister who were older adults.
