Followers Call for Arrest of Individual Who Touched Ariana Grande
Loyal followers of the actress are urging that a individual who breached a barrier and seized the actress during Thursday's Wicked: For Good premiere be arrested or expelled from Singapore.
A circulating clip depicts the individual from Australia bypassing camera operators and rushing toward Grande while the performers proceeded down a yellow carpet flanked by supporters.
Fellow actress Cynthia Erivo promptly pulled the stunned star away from Mr Wen, who was spotted being led away of the premiere by event staff.
Mr Wen posted on Instagram late on Thursday that he was "free after being arrested", though legal records indicated that he was due to be present on Friday morning. It is not clear if he was faced legal action.
Pattern of Event Invasions
This is part of a pattern for Mr Wen, who calls himself a "Notorious Troublemaker", has crashed a performance. His Instagram profile contains clips of him disturbing other celebrity events, including breaching the performance area at the artist's Sydney show in earlier this year and in a similar way during The Chainsmokers event in the same location last December.
"There needs to be action taken against him as this is obviously a criminal offence," wrote an Instagram follower, in a message to a video Mr Wen uploaded of his actions.
"Oh wow so you do this a lot... how aren't you in jail?" one Instagram user questioned.
Followers Show Disapproval Over Grande's Past Trauma
Several supporters blamed Mr Wen for "causing further distress" Grande, who had spoken of suffering from PTSD after a suicide bomb attack at the conclusion of her 2017 concert in Manchester, claiming the lives of 22 people and harming many.
"Ariana has been through so many scary things... and at her Manchester concert and you thought it would be fun to jump the barricade?" said a further comment on Instagram.
Some supporters also criticised guards at the premiere for not being vigilant enough; while others requested online networks to block Mr Wen's uploads.
Reaction and Event Details
In clips spreading on the internet, Grande appeared surprised when she was approached by the intruder. Her fellow actors Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be seen consoling her while Mr Wen was escorted away by guards.
Grande has not issued a statement on the incident, and the remaining proceedings continued without further issues.
Many of fans had congregated in a mass of green and pink at the Wicked: For Good international launch in a Singapore shopping center, including some who had waited for as long as eight hours before it started.
The motion picture, to be released on 21 November, is the sequel of a two-part interpretation of the well-known theatrical musical Wicked, which centers on the unlikely relationship between two contrasting witches.
The production itself is a adaptation of the twentieth-century story The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who plays the character Glinda Glinda, was decked out in a champagne pink sequin dress at the premiere while Erivo, who portrays the wicked witch, wore a sleek black dress decorated with roses.
They were alongside co-star Jeff Goldblum.
The initial film, Wicked, was the top-earning motion picture of the previous year in the UK, and earned 10 Oscar nominations, earning several for excellent wardrobe and production design.
